Currently Casting FRAN:
FRAN: Trans guy, 27, biracial Filipino and white (open to all AAPI talent). Fran is at the height of his quarter-life crisis in NYC. He is a sculptor, full-time barista, and a fitness content creator without much traction. Fran is externally tough and cool, transmasculine but easily cis passing. His sense of self seems to be unraveling but this might just be what he needs to bring all the roving parts in him together. We encourage trans men and gender-diverse actors who are comfortable playing transmasc roles to submit.
Logline:
In a reimagining of the Prodigal Son story, on receiving news of his mother’s illness, a young man returns home to mend complicated relationships and rediscover what love and family really mean.
About The Director:
MG Evangelista was born in Manila and grew up in the SF Bay Area. Evangelista received a 2023 United States Artists Fellowship in Film, joining a distinguished list of filmmakers whose past recipients include Barry Jenkins, Dee Rees, Lee Isaac Chung, and Kelly Reichardt. Evangelista is a 2024–2025 AFI DWW+ Directing Participant. Their debut feature film, Burning Well, currently in development, has been supported by SFFILM Rainin, Tribeca, Array, the Torino Feature Film Lab, and Film Independent’s Screenwriting Lab and Fast Track. The feature is based on their award-winning short film Fran This Summer, which has played at over thirty festivals, including the Sundance Film Festival. They received their MFA in Directing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and go by the nickname Grace.

What are you looking for?
Currently, we are casting one role: FRAN. Please read the description for FRAN at the top of this page.
When are the shoot dates?
These are still in flux as the shoot very much depends on finding the right FRAN. We will work around any schedule to accommodate our perfect FRAN.
What if I’ve never acted before?
That is fine! We are hoping to make a discovery of new talent.
When should I submit my audition by?
As soon as possible!
When will I know if I am cast?
This process can take a while, please be patient!
What if I have a job?
If cast, the role will require a month or more of shooting and the days are long (10+hours). That being said, we will give you plenty of notice and will work with you on the schedule.
Will I get paid?
All speaking roles will be paid according to the SAG-AFTRA scale.
Does it matter where I live?
Currently we are casting worldwide and will make it work for the right FRAN.
Are there other roles casting?
At the moment we are only casting for FRAN.
